چکیده
Abstract In this study, we fabricated nano-capillary emitter arrays for stable ion emission of ionic liquid electrospray thrusters, employing the fabrication field or gated nano electron sources. A was successfully with a 100–300 nm capillary diameter, which prevented leakage by significantly increasing fluidic impedance compared to previously proposed emitter. An experiment conducted 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium dicyanamide as propellant. Ion started at low voltage 61 V owing small gap approximately 1 ? m between and extractor electrode. The maximum current density 43 mA cm ?2 on positive side ?13 negative without liquid, more than 100 times higher that conventional thrusters. Moreover, obtained continuous intercepted extractor.

Fabrication and Characterization of Porous Metal Emitters for Electrospray Thrusters
A repeatable method based on conventional micro fabrication techniques for creating sharpened emitters from porous tungsten has been explored. A laboratory demonstration thruster comprised of 49 of these porous tungsten emitters has been built and tested. The demonstration device operates on the electrostatic field evaporation of ions from ionic liquids. The emitters are contained in three line...
متن کاملCoupled Molecular Dynamics – Three-Dimensional Poisson Simulations of Ionic Liquid Electrospray Thrusters
Molecular dynamics (MD) simulations are performed to model an electrospray thruster for the ionic liquid (IL) EMIM−BF 4 using an effective-force coarse-grained (CG) potential. The MD simulations provide insight into the atomistic modeling of a capillary-tip-extractor system, the basic elements of an electrospray thruster. A one-dimensional electric field showed an improvement in the model when ...
متن کاملSpecies measurements in the beam of an ionic liquid ferrofluid capillary electrospray source under magnetic stress
Three solutions of an ionic liquid ferrofluid (ILFF) using 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide (EMIM-NTf2) as the carrier liquid were emitted from a capillary electrospray source and the resulting beam was measured using a time-of-flight mass spectrometer (TOF-MS). The solutions had 3.04, 5.98, and 8.80 wt% iron oxide nanoparticles making them susceptible to magnetic f...
متن کاملSheathless capillary electrophoresis/electrospray ionization mass spectrometry using a pulled bare fused-silica capillary as the electrospray emitter.
It has always been assumed that electrical contact at the capillary outlet is a necessary requirement when coupling capillary electrophoresis (CE) with electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS). In this study, we used a pulled bare-capillary tip as the ESI emitter, but neither was it coated with any electrically conductive materials nor was a high external voltage applied on its outlet...
